Regarding our recent post on “Net Neutrality-1984 Big Brother Tactics“, a reader comments:
“this article on net neutrality has left me scratching my head.”
“I’ve done research, and found bipartisan support for Net Neutrality.”
The Tea Party, and GCTP is no exception, believe in the principles established with the Constitution of the U.S.A. It is unfortunate that there are those in both political parties that do not follow the Constitution as they should, and vote for Socialist ideas. It could be said then, that there is “bi-partisan” support and political maneuvering for Socialism and the tyranny it requires. And Socialism is the direct opposite and enemy of the Constitution, freedom, and America.
To understand that, it is worthwhile to see what a Democrat of 1925, a two term California State Senator, said about the Constitution and Socialism. That Democrat, George Wilder Cartwright, wrote a short book named “The Voice of America, Our Constitution”. It is just 30 pages and can be [read here].(link fixed)
So I will say this, the Grant County Tea Party is for the Constitution and against Socialism. These two cannot co-exist. If Socialism becomes dominant in the U.S.A., liberty and America as we have known it will cease to exist.
The book, 1984, was made into a movie twice; the latest version featuring Richard Burton.
“Nineteen Eighty-Four (sometimes written 1984) is a 1949 dystopian novel by George Orwell about an oligarchical, collectivist society. Life in the Oceanian province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, and incessant public mind control. The individual is always subordinated to the state, and it is in part this philosophy which allows the Party to manipulate and control humanity. In the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue, in Newspeak), protagonist Winston Smith is a civil servant responsible for perpetuating the Party’s propaganda by revising historical records to render the Party omniscient and always correct, yet his meagre existence disillusions him to the point of seeking rebellion against Big Brother, eventually leading to his arrest, torture, and reconversion.”
It was the task of Big Brother to control all information. The First Amendment to the Constitution forbids restrictions to free speech, and this restriction and the entire Constitution are restrictions against government. Any governmental control of information [short of treason] is then illegal.
So, here is what we know.
Al Sharpton [socialist] met with the FCC commisioners:
“Public hearings would instead be used to drag unfavorables like Rush Limbaugh before the Commission to “explain how they justify” their availing themselves of their First Amendment rights. And to threaten their stations’ broadcast licenses should they fail the FCC’s definition of “justification.”
How do we know this? Because Reverend Al appeared on Tom Joyner’s radio show on December 15 and said the following [click to read]:”
The FCC is a Bureaucracy. It is *not* the Legislative branch, or the Executive branch of government.
“There is no room in the US Constitution for any bureaucracy to write law. That is explicitly on the desks of the Legislature and the President. There is no place in the Constitution which allows the Legislative Branch or the Executive Branch, much less both branches, to abdicate their responsibilities to some unelected and unaccountable agency.” [Please read this entire article]
George Soros, a statist Socialist who wants to control the world, is behind “Net Neutrality” [link here]
From the Wall Street Journal, 12/21/2010, we learn that the intent of “Net Neutrality” is to overthrow Capitalism [thus overthrow the U.S.A. and individual liberty] with Marxism.
“The net neutrality vision for government regulation of the Internet began with the work of Robert McChesney, a University of Illinois communications professor who founded the liberal lobby Free Press in 2002. Mr. McChesney’s agenda? “At the moment, the battle over network neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies,” he told the website SocialistProject in 2009. “But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control.”
A year earlier, Mr. McChesney wrote in the Marxist journal Monthly Review that “any serious effort to reform the media system would have to necessarily be part of a revolutionary program to overthrow the capitalist system itself.” Mr. McChesney told me in an interview that some of his comments have been “taken out of context.” He acknowledged that he is a socialist and said he was “hesitant to say I’m not a Marxist.” ” (they are the same)
When the liberals talk about “Gun Control”, what they mean is “Control” of you. When they talk about “Health Care”, what they mean is “Control” of you; When they talk about “Net Neutrality” they mean “Control” of you. They don’t mean “liberty”, “freedom”, and “individualism”.
“For progressives who cloak their ambitions in the mantle of “fairness,” it’s all about control. It’s always about control.”
The Courts have already ruled that the FCC cannot regulate the Internet.
“A federal appeals court on Tuesday dealt a significant blow to the Obama administration and net neutrality advocates, ruling that the Federal Communications Commission has no authority to regulate how Web providers manage their network traffic.
The decision overturns the FCC’s order in 2008 that Comcast cease blocking subscribers’ peer-to-peer file sharing applications, including BitTorrent, which the company said had over-burdened its strapped broadband network and slowed users’ connections.”
Congress has previously refused to give the FCC the authority to regulate the Internet; despite many attempts to do so by proponents.
“The U.S. House of Representatives definitively rejected the concept of Net neutrality on Thursday, dealing a bitter blow to Internet companies like Amazon.com, eBay and Google that had engaged in a last-minute lobbying campaign to support it. ”
Cost to consumers under “Net Neutrality” will likely soar.
“Today, Comcast, Time Warner, or whomever you pay monthly, charges you and Phil more or less the same amount. But Phil watches four hours of basketball online every night. Should he pay more for that? There’s the neutrality part, the argument that you should pay one fee for access to the entire Internet, regardless of what type of content you watch or which sites you visit.
Well … that makes sense, right? If service providers could charge based on the type of content you watch, they could easily create a system like that of today’s cable television market. Want HBO? It’s an extra $5. Want our streaming video package, with YouTube, Hulu, TV.com, and more? That’s $5 too. Don’t pay and you can’t watch. Period.”
The Net isn’t broken now. Nothing is wrong, I can get Net access from a number of sources; even more if I move closer to town. I can go to various businesses and get Net access through their ‘hotspots’. But this plan provides a non needed fix for a non existent problem, creating non needed bigger bureaucracies to fix the newly created non problem.
“The FCC’s Threat to Internet Freedom
‘Net neutrality’ sounds nice, but the Web is working fine now. The new rules will inhibit investment, deter innovation and create a billable-hours bonanza for lawyers.”
President Obama appointed three members of the five member FCC commision. All three of those voted for “Net Neutrality”. Thus, only three people out of 308 million, control your lives now when it comes to the Internet. This is patently illegal by the Constitution and certainly tyranny. And it was obviously his intent from the start.
Now, I could go on and on, but this should have been plenty. The “Net Neutrality” scheme is just that, an un-Constitutional move by Socialists/Marxists to convert the U.S.A. to a Socialist/ Marxist/ Communist society. There are a number of problems with that including abject failure and illegality. As George Wilder Cartwright indicated in “The Voice of America”, Socialism has never succeeded in over 2500 years. And it has not succeeded since he wrote that. And because it always fails, it must utilize tyranny and force to impose itself on the populace. In Russia, many millions were murdered in the quest to make Communism work, and yet it still failed. Despite that, because of the nature and desire of some humans to rule over others, they keep trying.
The U.S.A. is one experiment that excoriated those ideas of Marx, and instead promoted principles that work. And they have worked very well. We must do our part to keep this jewel of an idea that our founders created by stopping all these attacks on our Constitution, Republic, freedom, and individualism.
And we must stop the much misnamed and misunderstood, “Net Neutrality”
Each of you must become active, and put true conservative [conserving the Constitution] representation in the US House, Senate, and Presidency. You have a long way to go, this will not be easy. Call, write, email, FAX, as often as you can. Hold their feet to the fire. Never give in.
“Never give in–never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.
Sir Winston Churchill, Speech, 1941, Harrow School”
